Come experience our Maundy Thursday Communion Service like never before! If you prefer to join us via live stream, bring your communion elements and together, we will worship and “break bread” while focusing on the mandate to love with humility by serving one another while remembering His ultimate humility and sacrifice.
From the Latin word mandatum, meaning, “commandment,” Maundy refers to the command Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper: “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-45)
Jesus’ command seems very simple, but the understanding of what happened that night is far from simple. Why is the importance of remembering Communion so significant for Christians? Let us focus on the mandate to love with humility by serving one another while remembering His ultimate humility and sacrifice for us.
Communion will be part of our Maundy Thursday service. Should you decide to participate with us from home, here are some instructions for taking communion remotely.
Communion (the Lord’s Supper) is an ordinance given to all believers by Jesus to remember His sacrifice for us and to symbolize the new covenant.
The elements of bread and wine/juice are symbols of Christ’s broken body and shed blood. Communion is not a means of salvation, rather, it is a testament of a believer’s faith in the atoning work of the cross. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, join us online to remember His GREAT sacrifice. If you are not in the place where you consider Christ your Savior then sit back and enjoy the service like normal.
ITEMS NEEDED FOR TAKING COMMUNION AT HOME
1. Grape Juice or Water (quantity depends on size of your group)
2.Bread or Baked Crackers | Unleavened bread is the best expression of the “bread” element. Unleavened bread simply is bread baked without a rising agent (most large grocery stores stock unleavened bread), but you can select any bread or cracker of your choice.
3. Be Ready at Home with Your Elements | The pastor will direct you through properly receiving communion. All you need to do is follow along online individually or as a group during the service.

Women of all ages are invited to participate in a group study of Colossians on Sunday mornings.
Pastor, author and speaker, Paul David Tripp, says he would entitle Colossians, “Jesus at the Center.” Jesus is the ultimate embodiment of the grace of God!
Colossians focuses on the supremacy and the sufficiency of Christ Jesus. Jesus is in every passage and every verse of Colossians. The apostle Paul has one thing that he wants us to know: that there is no gospel apart from His person and work.
There will be a rotating schedule of leaders and we will use the Bible as our guide for learning and discussion. Join us as we dive deep into God’s Word and experience His fullness like never before.

Most importantly, let’s remember that God is fully in control! Even though fear is spreading, our God is a strong tower and mighty fortress, the righteous run into it and we are safe (Prov. 18:10). Let’s be a “non-anxious presence” around those who don’t know and follow Jesus.
Please remember to lift up our brothers and sisters around the world who are suffering, and pray for all caregivers, for those who are tirelessly working to fight this disease and for the swift development of treatment.

Tuesdays AM – YFMB:
The Tuesday AM Women’s Bible Study will resume January 10th, at 10am, in the Youth & Family Ministry Building.
While often overlooked, the Book of Jude remains as relevant today as the time it was written. God has commanded His beloved church to do the necessary work of contending for the faith in a world of unbelief, and as we do, He will keep us from falling into the same deception. In this study from Jackie Hill Perry, dive into themes of being called, loved, and kept, and learn how to point others to Jesus in grace and truth. We serve others well when we share the whole gospel with them, not just the parts deemed attractive by our culture.
Leaders: Linda Clark, Ruth Grose, Sharon Lima and Linda Rigdon
Topic: Discussing the sermon series “Meaning in the Madness: A study of Ecclesiastes”
So… how do we live by faith in a world of madness? That is what the book of Ecclesiastes is about. It assumes doubts and offers answers not addressed anywhere else. It explores issues that haunt us at the end of life. In short, this ancient book offers meaning in the madness by directing us to the purpose giver: God himself.
The Women’s Tuesday PM Edition will resume in the new year Tuesday, January 17th, at 7pm. This semester we will meet in YFMB Room 201 and on Zoom.
They will continue looking at the books of Judges and Ruth using the book, “Cultivating a Life of Character,” by Elizabeth George.
In our culture today, we can see that everyone is doing what is right in their own eyes. This is also seen throughout the book of Judges. We are looking forward to studying God’s word together to learn what lessons He has for each of us.
Risen Motherhood is a small group that meets on Tuesdays from 8pm-9pm via Zoom. Reach out to Krisana Ukritnukun via email for the Zoom link
MBC “Risen Motherhood” Podcast Group is an online community that gathers weekly to reflect on the gospel-hope for moms with young children. Each podcast is about 20 minutes long and brings gospel truths to everyday topics of motherhood. Partner with us during this season of motherhood on Zoom every Tuesday, 8pm.
“You might think that Scripture doesn’t have much to say about the food you make for breakfast, how you view your postpartum body, or what school choice you make for your children, but a deeper look reveals that the Bible provides the framework for finding answers to your specific questions about modern motherhood.” – Risen Motherhood
Thursdays 7PM – YFMB: Leader: Kim McLaughlin
Resumes Thursday, January 5th , from 7pm-9pm in the YFMB 2nd floor conference room. We will be continuing our study of Acts.
How did the church explode from a tiny group to a worldwide force in just a few years? After Jesus left His followers with a mission, the Spirit of God moved mightily through them to fulfill it. Luke’s account of how the gospel was carried from Jerusalem to Rome―despite every conceivable obstacle―inspires the church today and helps us live out our individual mission in the world. Discover the exciting and challenging first few years of the church, the things we have in common with them today, and how that applies to our faith in the modern-day church.
Come and join us for a relaxing Christmas celebration with music, food and friends! Dress fancy (if you would like), bring an appetizer or dessert to share as we mingle in the newly renovated Fellowship Hall.
Take a little time for yourself to pause and fill up your bucket before we pour them out to the ones we love this Christmas.
Invite your mother, neighbors, high school teens, old friends and new. Whoever the Lord is bringing to mind, we would love to have them. If you have any questions contact Jenn Dowden .

The Morning Edition
Romans 1-7; The Gift of God by Timothy Keller
Tuesday Mornings, 9:30am, YFMB
We want to be right in the eyes of the law of our land, of those we respect, of our loved ones, of those we work with. We strive to gain and then keep this right standing.
But there is another, far better and more important righteousness. A righteousness which changes and liberates every aspect of our lives, and yet which none of us can earn or maintain ourselves. It s a righteousness from God.
Romans 1-7 is all about that righteousness. It shows us why we don’t have it, why we need it, and how we can receive it. It thrills us that the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6 v 23).
These seven studies will help you to understand one of the most-read, most written-about parts of the Bible. And, as they enable you to you unwrap God s precious gift of right standing with him, they ll transform your hearts, lives, identities and perspectives.
