Disability Ministry
Our Vision
Weakness Is Not the Exception. It’s the Canvas.
Throughout Scripture, God consistently reveals His glory not through strength, achievement, or perfection—but through limitation, suffering, and dependence. From Jacob’s limp to Moses’ stammering tongue, from Mephibosheth welcomed at the king’s table to the man born blind, the biblical witness is clear: disability is not an exception to the image of God, but an expression of it. At Millington Baptist Church, Upside Down Glory is our commitment to live out this conviction together—building a church family where every person, of every ability, is welcomed, discipled, and empowered as an essential member of the Body of Christ.
This ministry is more than a program—it is a culture. Through our partnership with Joni and Friends, our Disability Leadership Team (DsLT), and a growing network of care, hospitality, and outreach, we are working toward a church that looks like the Kingdom: a table with room for everyone. Whether you are personally navigating disability, loving someone who is, or simply answering a call to serve the overlooked, there is a place for you here. Explore the resources below, join our team, and help us become a church known for the upside-down, glory-revealing love of Jesus Christ.
“Dignity before ability. Belonging before healing.”

Support Team
The Disability Support Team is the hands-and-feet engine behind MBC’s disability ministry. While the Disability Leadership Team sets the vision and strategy, the Support Team makes it real—showing up week in and week out to welcome families, assist individuals, and ensure that no one navigates church life alone. No specialized credentials required, just a willing heart and a belief that every person belongs at the table.

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.

Family Ministries
Family Ministries Resource Page | We live in a complex world. Raising the next generation to own their faith has never been more challenging—or more necessary. Yet, in the Scriptures, we see three institutions that God created: The Family, The Church, and the Nation—but the family is the foundation of society.
At MBC, one of our core values is building strong families. One of the ways we do this is by equipping parents and their children to navigate the difficult issues of the day. This page is for you. Below you will find some suggested resources to help you answer the most pressing issues of the day. Don’t see something? Ask us a question below!

We have a wonderful, newly renovated space for our babies and toddlers (up to age 3 and potty trained). Kids enjoy engaging play time, Bible story time, and snack time. Nursery is provided at both of our service times, 9am and 11:00am.
Check-in begins at 8:45am and 10:40am in the Main building (if you have kids in the older classes, you can check them all in at either of the check-in locations: in the nursery or in the Education building’s Connection Corner).
NOTE: The Preschool/Kindergarten class meets at the 11am service only throughout the summer.
We have a wonderful team of Preschool/Kindergarten teachers ready to show your children the love of Jesus through playtime and through an engaging Bible storytime. This class meets in the Education building, Room 212, at both services.
Check-in begins at 8:45am and 10:40am in the Education building (please use the entrance with the ramp, and you’ll walk right into the check-in area, Connection Corner). Please tell our check-in greeter if your child(ren) will be staying for both services.
NOTE: The Elementary class meets at the 11am service only throughout the summer.
Our elementary class is for 1st -4th graders. We do both a large group teaching time and small groups. This age group meets in the Education building, Rooms 203/205, at both services.

Our 56ers (5th and 6th graders) have special classes, as they are the oldest kids in the MBC Kids program. The 56ers meet at 9am only, and there are two classes: 56ers boys meet in Room 213 and 56ers girls meet in Room 211.
Check-in begins at 8:45am in the Education building (please use the entrance with the ramp, and you’ll walk right into the check in area, Connection Corner). 56ers can sit with their families in the worship service if staying for both services, which is a great opportunity for kids to learn about worshiping God.
Children are welcome to join their parents for family worship services on December 31st.
Nursery and preschool will be available on 12/31 only.
Special update: we are launching a new electronic check-in system this fall!
Parents will be able to check in all of their kids at any of the 4 stations: nursery, sanctuary foyer, and 2 stations in Connection Corner (Education building). Kids will receive a name tag, and parents will receive a tag with matching numbers. Parents must show their tag in order to pick up their kids.
Interested in serving with kids? We’re praying for the following roles to be filled: assistant teacher, check-in, and nursery. Contact Rachel Rickershauser for more information.
