Our next membership class at MBC will be taking place on Sunday October 11th & Sunday October 18th. This will be a 2-part membership class at the 11am hour in the Great Room at MBC. We hope you can join us and register through the button below.
Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease.
At MBC, we love to participate in OCC! Boxes and brochures are available in the foyer. Drop off boxes at MBC by November 15, and be sure to enclose a $10 donation for each box. You can write 1 check to cover all the boxes you submit, or donate online and check Follow Your Box to track it to its recipient(s). The Book of Ezekiel (a priest who became a prophet) takes place while Israel is in exile (ca 593 BC–573 BC) because of the discipline given by God for the idolatry and covenant failure of his people to properly represent His name. Ezekiel, whose most common name for himself in the book is “son of man,” (“Son of man, eat this scroll…”, Ezek 3:3), witnessed the majestic glory of God (Ezek 1) which had tragically departed from the compromised Jerusalem temple (Ezek 10), but yet surprisingly followed his people to be with them in a foreign land, revealing that God is not confined to a building, city or nation. Using graphic and vivid word pictures, dramatic reenactments and prophetic street theater, God called Ezekiel to announce both the bad news message of God’s judgment and the good news message of God’s salvation.

Disability Training Event
Saturday, October 17th 8:30am – 11:30am
This regional training event, hosted in partnership with Joni and Friends, is designed to help participants grow in confidence, awareness, and practical skill as they minister to individuals and families affected by disability.
The morning will be led by Sarah Bush, Regional Coordinator with Joni and Friends. Sarah will guide attendees through helpful training that strengthens both understanding and ministry practice, equipping people to interact with greater care, confidence, and gospel-centered compassion.
The gospel-centered truth behind including the disability community in church and why we need to be intentional about making disciples of all nations, including those affected by disabilities.

Invitation Scope
This event will be shared with MBC attendees as well as churches throughout the surrounding area. The intent is to make the training accessible not only to those already serving in disability ministry, but also to those who are exploring how they can better understand, welcome, and minister to people with disabilities.

Update 3/16/2023
The Annual Business Meeting was a great time for the church to recap the past fiscal year and to look forward to 2023-2024. Pastor Bob & Pastor Dave spoke about our plans to continue to be firmly planted, growing together, and investing in the lives of others. Larry Blakeman shared about the budget and new World Partners. We had a good time celebrating what God has done and expectant of the future of our church.
We did have quorum and voted unanimously to pass the proposed budget for 2023-2024.
Also, a motion carried unanimously for additional funding that was requested for 2022-2023.
Hock Ng presented from the Elder Nominating Committee five new candidates:

Doug Hulin, Elder Vice-Chair, thanked our outgoing elders, Paul Achenbach and Hock Ng, for their investment, dedication, and leadership in so many areas.

Our Annual Business Meeting is an important time for our church as we celebrate all that God is doing at MBC and plan for the exciting year ahead.
This year’s Annual Business Meeting will be conducted in-person in our Sanctuary on Wednesday, March 16, at 7pm.
Members will be emailed instructions on how to login to the ABM portal. This is the same web portal we used last year. You’ll need your username and password. There is a “forgot password” feature, in case you forgot.
We encourage all members to login prior to the meeting so that you can watch Pastor Bob’s pre-meeting instructions video as well as familiarize yourself with the Annual Business Meeting portal.
Most importantly, your participation is essential to this meeting’s success. According to our constitution, first we need 20% of active voting members to attend the meeting to constitute a quorum. Second, of those attending, we need a simple majority vote to both approve the annual operating budget and to elect members to the Board of Elders. Please make every effort to attend and vote.

This email covers voting for the church budget for the upcoming fiscal year and leadership positions within our body. The Center will be compiling the votes in order to preserve anonymity.

Awana is a world-wide nonprofit ministry focused on providing Bible-based discipleship and evangelism for kids of all ages. The name of the program is taken from Scripture found in 2 Timothy 2:15 “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed.” Activities include engaging large group sessions, small group time including Scripture memorization and Bible study, and fun games & activities. Join us for Awana this Fall and watch your children flourish!

Millington Baptist Church is seeking a Buildings & Grounds Manager to provide leadership and oversight for the facilities functions of our church. This position will help ensure that MBC’s facilities effectively support the mission and ministry of the church. Connections and Hospitality Coordinator
Under the direction of the Pastor of Spiritual Formation & Care (Or current PLT member), the Connections and Hospital Coordinator (CHC) oversees all assimilation, connections and hospitality functions of the church outlined below. The CHC will also work with other volunteer ministry groups to ensure smooth functioning of the church on a daily and long-term basis. A written, annual review will be prepared by the supervising PLT member and will be discussed with the incumbent along with an elder liaison if needed.
Employment Status: Part-Time, 20+ hours/week
Administrative and Financial Manager (Interim)
Under the direction of the Pastor of Spiritual Formation & Care (Or current PLT member) and the Board of Elders, the Administrative and Financial Manager (AFM) oversees all administrative and financial functions of the church as outlined below. The AFM will also work in cooperation with the Finance Team, the Pastoral Leadership Team, as well as other volunteer ministry groups to ensure smooth functioning of the church on a daily and long-term basis. A written, annual review will be prepared by the supervising PLT member.
Employment Status: Full-Time, 40-50 hours/week
Operations and Ministry Administrator (Interim)
The Operations and Ministry Administrator (OMA) provides essential communication and administrative support to MBC’s ministries, Pastors and Ministry Team members as they seek to build up the body of Christ at MBC. This position also requires that the information that MBC keeps on its people, its activities and classes, and its facilities, be well organized, current, accurate, and can be retrieved and used when and how it is needed.

MBC is looking to hire a Part-Time Discipleship Coordinator. The MBC Discipleship Coordinator will oversee discipleship initiatives in the church (adult education, small groups, women’s ministry, men’s ministry) to help the MBC church body be supported and to mature in their faith. The Discipleship Coordinator will work closely with and report to the MBC Lead Pastor of Spiritual Formation and Care.

The Office & Information Manager provides essential communication and administrative support to various ministries, Pastors and Ministry Team members as they seek to build up the body of Christ at MBC. Financial Manager
MBC is looking to hire a Full-Time Financial Manager. The Financial Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing most aspects of the church’s financial matters. This person has the responsibility of insuring the Church’s financial operations are processed and reported accurately and with integrity. This includes managing the day-to-day business processes and providing support to the Leadership Team. This will include but is not limited to the responsibility for internal control and providing assistance for the annual audit of MBC financial records. The Financial Manager shall report to and be accountable to the Board of Elders of the Church and shall maintain open communication and work cooperatively with the church’s Leadership and staff.

From the North: South on 287 to exit 26 (Mt. Airy Road/VA Hospital, Liberty Corner) and go left at end of ramp. At second traffic light, make left onto Valley Road. Go past the VA Hospital to the traffic light and make a right. Go 1/4 mile to the first traffic light. As you pass straight through this light, the church is on your left.

What to expect on a Sunday morning:
Worship: Every Sunday we come before the Lord in worship to praise his name together and lift our voices in praise.
Sermon: Every Sunday we hear a word from one of our pastors from the Word of God.
Communion: Once a month we come before the Lord in a time of remembrance as we take communion together as a church.
