Discover the Power of Radical Mentoring: A Path to Spiritual Growth

Radical Mentoring is a special type of men’s small group made up of high potential men facilitated by a more senior, more mature man. The vision is to help these men live God-centric lives and fulfill their God-given potential.

It is our goal to impact the lives of men in a way that points them toward an integrated Christian life. We believe that we can have successful careers and be learners and followers of Jesus and be great husbands, fathers, church members, sons, civic leaders, disciple-makers and friends . . . all at the same time.

During this fall we will have two mentoring groups. The mentors will endeavor to share what they’ve learned about success, most often focusing on what they have screwed up on . . . hopefully, so that you can avoid the mistakes they made along the way. We will spend significant time on understanding who we are in God’s eyes, how to better relate to our wives, and how to best raise children. We’ll spend even more time on getting to know what it means to have a vibrant, living relationship with Jesus.

The type of guys we are looking for are . . .

  • Objective men: willing to take direct, pervasive feedback without being defensive; willing to look themselves in the mirror and make changes to improve
  • Humble men, hungry for personal growth
  • Men with a passionate commitment to Jesus
  • Men with a willingness to pay it forward and influence other guys in the future

The program involves a monthly two-hour meeting. Each meeting will be centered around a topic, and there will be a related book to reading, personal and relational assignments to complete and a verse or two of Scripture to memorize or study.

Women’s Bunco Night

Can you count to 6? Then you can play Bunco! This fun, fast-paced game night is open to all women, from high school on up. It’s a great way for women of all ages and generations to get to know one another.

Please bring a dessert or an appetizer to share if you are able.

Shared Interest Groups, NOW FORMING

What is a Shared Interest Group?

Shared Interest Groups are groups formed around a common goal and are generally informal in nature.

 

What is a Shared Interest Group’s purpose?

Groups are intended to help people to build relationships with each other in a gospel-centered way apart from the Sunday morning worship experience. Groups are created to help people engage with others, both within and outside of the church, in cultural, artistic, recreational, leisure and sports activities.

 

Who should consider joining a Shared Interest Group?

Individuals, small groups, teams or whole communities can join a Shared Interest Group. They  are relevant to people of all different ages, abilities and levels of skill…in other words, there’s something for everyone!

Shared Interest Groups are fun, interactive, and designed as great way to get to know others. Participation serves as a valuable supplement toward building biblical community.

Support Ukraine

The war in Ukraine has already resulted in a flood of refugees fleeing from locations of violence and vulnerability. If you would like to help, here are three organizations for your consideration:

 

 

United World Mission

United World Mission gives option to help the seminary’s work with refugees, or to give to the seminary itself. United World Mission’s network of seminaries in Ukraine have opened their doors and residential facilities to those in need of temporary shelter. You can help these refugees obtain food, temporary shelter, and transportation as well as long-term needs of the Ukrainian refugees.

 

MBC’s World Partners, John and Stella White, serve in Kyiv, where they both teach at the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS). John and Stella are currently home in the U.S. and recently visited MBC to give an update on the situation. You can watch the interview at the beginning of the service HERE.

 

WorldVenture

WorldVenture has an ongoing disciple-making presence in Ukraine and had a past presence in Russia for many years.

 

Hundreds of refugees are fleeing into Poland with lines on the Ukraine side of the border being two to three days long. Churches in Poland stand ready to offer clothing, food, and shelter to Ukrainians fleeing the violence. The WorldVenture team stand with them, actively working even as we speak to give practical aid to refugees from driving to the border to give them rides to offering up their homes.

 

Many women and children were forced to travel alone, as men under age 60 were not allowed to leave the country. They have no place to go, are living out of a suitcase, and have no idea where their next meal is coming from. Our missionaries and local churches want to help as much as possible, but funds are limited. We desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

 

Funds from this project will be used to assist Ukrainian refugees who are relocating to Poland. The length of their stay is unknown, and their needs are varied. Our desire is to assist them as much as possible, which may include, but is not limited to, housing, household goods, clothing, job placement, and counseling.

 

 

Josiah Venture

Josiah Venture is responding to the urgent crisis in Ukraine in two ways: by supporting the work of our team and local churches on the ground inside Ukraine and by assisting Ukrainian refugees as they move into neighboring countries.

 

Most JV Ukrainian national missionaries are currently staying in Ukraine to serve those around them. They are coordinating with churches inside Ukraine to provide desperately needed shelter, food, evacuation, medical supplies, personal care, spiritual encouragement, Bibles, and the hope-filled message of the gospel during this crisis. Some of our missionaries have even been put in charge of city-wide operations for emergency aid, shelter, and refugee care.

 

JV staff in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary are assisting refugees coming across the Ukrainian border. They are prepared to provide full-scale accommodations for up to 400 refugees in and around our training centers in the coming weeks, as well as help them flow through to local churches for long-term care. Most of these refugees are women and children, many of whom had to leave their husbands in Ukraine since they are required to stay and defend the country.

 

The JV team is making sure they have food, clothing, personal items, supplies for small infants and children, personal counseling, Ukrainian-language Bibles, and many other practical and spiritual needs.

 

Josiah Venture is supporting them throughout this crisis and preparing up a long-term program for providing assistance afterward.

Women’s Winter Retreat

The Lord has been so Faithful to Millington Baptist Church through the years and our Women’s Ministry is excited to invite women to a special weekend of fellowship, refreshment, and inspiration in the heart of Amish country in beautiful Lancaster, PA.

 

Join us as we spend the weekend with Tammy Mittuch (mom, MBC mission partner, sister & friend) journeying through the book of Daniel. Over four insightful sessions, we’ll unravel the mysteries and timeless lessons embedded in this ancient text. We’ll delve into prophetic visions, historical narratives, and profound wisdom, which we hope will be inspiring and challenging. Don’t miss this enriching experience that promises to deepen your appreciation for the spiritual treasures concealed in the pages of one of the Bible’s most intriguing books.

We’ve provided a few different lodging options for you to review and consider before completing your registration. Early Bird = prior to February 13.

 
A. Early Bird Double Room: $275 per person for 2 people /room, 2 nights. Includes all activities except optional “Daniel” ticket. Register before February 13. (Choose this option if you would like to share a room.)
B. Early Bird Single Room: $425, King room, 2 nights. Includes all activities except optional “Daniel” ticket. Register before February 13. (Choose this option if you would prefer not to share a room. Same rate applies.)
C. Post Feb. 13 Make My Own Reservation: Will make my own hotel reservation at the hotel’s STANDARD RATE and pay MBC $75.00 for additional retreat cost. (Choose this option if you are making your reservation after Feb. 13.)
 

*Retreat costs include: Lodging for 2 nights, Friday & Saturday refreshments, Saturday & Sunday breakfast, Saturday lunch. (Friday & Saturday night dinners are on your own.)

In addition to our speaker sessions, there is space for  restorative “you” time, however that looks for you. Here are some suggestions:

  1. Sight & Sound Theater production of “Daniel”. We have a block of 40 seats at $85 each. If you would like to attend, please secure your seat during registration.
  2. Hiking Trails (Trail maps will be available.)
  3. Shopping!
  4. Meeting Room Hangout – Refreshments, coffee & tea service will be served throughout the day in our designated meeting room. Feel free to curl up with a hot beverage and connect with old and new friends, play board or card games, needlework, puzzles…whatever suits you!

Transportation
There is room for 15 on each of our two MBC vans. One van will require masks, the other will be mask optional. Please indicate whether or not you’d like to travel on one of the vans. Departure time is TBD.

What about COVID?

By registering for this retreat, we ask that you understand there is a risk of contracting COVID as in any circumstance. We will designate one of the church vans as mask-required and the other mask-optional. This is a mask-optional event. 

 

Reservations are refundable if your cancellation is made prior to February 16th or if you test positive for Covid within 2 weeks of the retreat date.

Esther Goetz

About Esther: I was born and grew up a missionary kid in war-torn Ethiopia.  I now live in rural New Jersey in a house surrounded by perennial gardens where you will find me digging in the dirt or basking in the glory of it all.

 

When I’m not on a date with my husband of 30 years, I’m writing, watching crime shows, figuring out the cures for all the world’s problems with a friend, or being a mom to four grownish kids and one adorable preschool grandson. 

 

I have a fierce passion to restore hope for the sacred space where our hearts and our homes meet. This includes faith, marriage and motherhood.

Feeding Hands Fundraiser

Nerf Wars: Hunger Games Battle Fundraiser

Wednesday, August 4, 6pm-8:30pm, YFMB Lawn

Our local partner organization, Feeding Hands, will be holding a fundraiser at our church for their ministry that helps fight hunger in our area. Suggested donation is $20, cash or check made out to Feeding Hands. All proceeds will be donated to the Feeding Hands Pantry in Somerville. Participants must register below and must wear eye protection. Snacks are included. This event is open to middle school to young adults

The Rush Wednesdays

The Rush Wednesdays returns on January 13th, 7pm-8:30pm, Sanctuary or Zoom

 

The Rush is a chance, every Wednesday, for students to take a “break” from their weekly routine to hear relevant teaching, engage in small group discussion, and take part in fun, creative activities. Please watch our video so you’ll know what to expect, and remember, masks are required. 

 

Millington Baptist Church has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of COVID-19 as stated within our Campus Guidelines; however, the church cannot guarantee that you or your child(ren) will not become infected with COVID-19. Sunday Services in August & September

Continuing Outdoor Services, Second Service Time
Now @ 10:15am & MBC Kids Update

In the interest of health and safety, we will continue gathering under the tent throughout the month of August.

 

As the summer heat index rises, we are moving up our second service to 10:15am beginning Sunday, August 2.

MBC Kids update: we’ll be providing an outdoor, in-person program for elementary kids at the 9am service starting August 2! Click here for more details about policies we’re implementing to keep the kids and leaders safe.

 

Sunday Zoom for the kids will change to 11:15am also starting August 2.

We appreciate your continued cooperation in following the Campus Guidelines for regathering, and don’t forget to let us know you’re coming by registering in advance. 

 

Thank you for your part in making our outdoor, in-person services a huge success! It has been a blessing to worship together.
