Teaching the big picture of the Old Testament

Many believers are confused about the Old Testament–what it says, what it means, how to apply it to daily life. Some may wonder if it is even relevant today. Others are overwhelmed by it and don’t know how to read it. Would-be Bible readers often quit before they make it all the way through the Old Testament.

What if there was an event that could actually inspire people to read the Bible? What if there was an event that made the Old Testament come alive in a fun, clear, and very memorable way?

Join MBC on Saturday, January 31 from 9am to 12pm for this fun, interactive event that will teach the big picture of the Old Testament. Attendees will learn the major events and people of the Old Testament and understand its storyline, maybe for the first time.

City Relief Packing Party 2025

We’re excited to kick off our 2025 Christmas outreach with the return of our City Relief Packing Party!

This annual event brings our church family together to pack hygiene kits that will be distributed by our strategic partner, City Relief—a faith-driven nonprofit providing compassionate, street-level care to people experiencing homelessness through meals, resources, and meaningful relationships.

This year, MBC is providing 1,000 kits, but we’re hoping to go even further. If you feel led, you can help expand our impact by sponsoring additional kits or giving a general donation. Every donation received before December 1st will go directly toward purchasing more supplies.

Save the date: December 20th from 9:00–11:00 AM.

We’ll enjoy a continental breakfast, coffee from Barrister Coffee House, hot cocoa, and plenty of Christmas cheer as we pack kits together. Wear your favorite Christmas sweater and come ready to serve!

We’ll also share a brief presentation on additional ways you can partner with City Relief throughout the year.

We are filled with joy for an incredible 2025 at MBC!

As we reflect on the remarkable year that has unfolded, we are overwhelmed with gratitude for your unwavering support. Over the past year we saw God work in many ways throughout our church. We hosted our second ever “Contend Conference” with some powerful guest speakers. We continued our AWANA ministry and discipling the kids in our community. Our MBC Teens took a mission trip to North Carolina and served those in hardship. We also had numerous sermon series on books such as Isaiah, 2 Corinthians, 1 Timothy, Revival, and a whole summer in the scriptures. We also had several adult education classes and small groups that will have lasting impact on the spiritual lives of those in our church.Your impact is immeasurable, and we extend our heartfelt appreciation for making these endeavors possible.

Strategy One: Strengthen the MBC Discipleship System

We are building a strong and Christ-seeking culture of spiritual growth at MBC. Through leadership development, ongoing evaluation, and clear pathways for every stage of faith, we aim to help our entire church take meaningful next steps with Jesus. This includes expanding mentoring, launching accessible tools for growth, and equipping every ministry leader to invest in others—creating a multiplying movement of disciple-makers.

Strategy Two: Explore Educational Expansion Opportunities at MBC

We want MBC to be a place where deep, biblical formation thrives. Over the next few years, we will explore new educational pathways—from a potential theological teaching program to strategic partnerships that enrich learning for students and young adults. We also plan to make high-quality discipleship resources more accessible that equips our church for everyday discipleship.

In the realm of spiritual formation, this year has been nothing short of transformative. Our journey on Sunday mornings has taken us through Ecclesiastes, Philippians, Ephesians 6 (Spiritual Warfare), the Psalms, and Ezra Nehemiah and has offered profound insights, fostering a deeper understanding of Scripture and its relevance to our lives. The launch of numerous new small groups has created intimate spaces for fellowship, prayer, and shared spiritual growth, connecting members in meaningful ways. Our adult education program has flourished, providing intellectual and spiritual nourishment with the introduction of a new course on church history and an enlightening seminar on the book of Joshua. These initiatives have not only broadened our knowledge but have also ignited a collective passion for continuous learning and spiritual exploration.

Growing Together

Strategy One: Implement a Comprehensive Assimilation Strategy

We want every person who walks through MBC’s doors to feel seen, welcomed, and invited into community. Through consistent follow-up, intentional hospitality, and clear next-step environments, we are creating a culture where newcomers can move from first-time visitors to fully connected members of the family. Our goal is simple: to make belonging easy and connection natural at every step.

Strategy Two: Expand Counseling and Care Ministries

We desire to be a church where hurting people find compassion, support, and gospel-centered care. Over the next several years, we will expand our support groups, strengthen visitation and care ministries, and raise up more trained caregivers to walk with people through difficult seasons. We aim to create a robust network of support that meets emotional, spiritual, and practical needs across our congregation.

Strategy Three: Expand On-Campus Connection Spaces

We want our campus to foster natural, meaningful relationships. To support this, we will create new indoor and outdoor gathering spaces designed for conversation, hospitality, and community life. Our aim is to make MBC a place where connection happens easily—before and after services, throughout the week, and across all generations.

Strategy Four: Enhance Digital Engagement

We are committed to building bridges between our physical and digital communities. We want online engagement to lead to real relational connection. By leveraging thoughtful digital tools and best practices, we will strengthen community for every person—whether they join us in the room or from home.

Made to Multiply

Strategy One: Develop a Robust Disability Ministry Program

We envision MBC as a place where individuals and families affected by disability are fully welcomed and supported. To move toward that vision, we will form a cross-ministry leadership team, partner with Joni and Friends, and improve accessibility across our campus. Over the next few years, we will launch new support and connection environments while also equipping our church through practical training on disability ethics and care. Our long-term hope is to become a resource that helps other churches grow in disability ministry as well.

Strategy Two: Cultivate a Mindset Shift Toward Evangelism and Outreach

We want MBC to grow as an outward-focused church, sharing the hope of Jesus through personal relationships and meaningful service. To foster this, we will empower a Local Outreach Team, offer ongoing evangelism and worldview training, and build strategic partnerships that meet real needs in our community. Through events, courses, service opportunities, and creative on-ramps for non-Christians, we aim to help our congregation engage confidently and compassionately in everyday mission.

Strategy Three: Invest in Young Leaders, Under-Resourced Churches, and Global Missions

We are committed to raising up the next generation of leaders and strengthening the wider body of Christ. This includes developing a vocational discipleship mentoring program for students and young adults, supporting churches within our network through training and revitalization efforts, and expanding our global impact through partnership with WorldVenture. Together, these efforts help us invest intentionally—locally and globally—where God is already at work.

We are so excited that 2026 will be the 175th year of ministry at Millington Baptist Church! We are so amazed and grateful at God’s faithfulness over the past 175 years and we have an exciting year of events planned to honor all that the Lord has done through MBC since 1851.

Christmas Eve 2025

The Christmas season is a wonderful time to serve at MBC, especially if you have never served before. We welcome serving teams for greeting, ushering, parking, and candle lighting to help make this a wonderful experience for all, especially those who are new to church. Night of Revival, January 16

On Friday, January 16 at 6:30pm MBC will be hosting “Night of Revival 2026”.

At this event there will be worship, a message, and some time for prayer. We are also encouraging people to invite friends, family, and neighbors who are both saved and unsaved to the event so that they might get to experience the love of Christ and hear the word of Christ proclaimed!

What to expect on a Sunday morning:

Worship: Every Sunday we come before the Lord in worship to praise his name together and lift our voices in praise.

Sermon: Every Sunday we hear a word from one of our pastors from the Word of God.

Communion: Once a month we come before the Lord in a time of remembrance as we take communion together as a church.

Connection: Every Sunday, we have lot’s of ways to connect and meet new people at the church!

We appreciate your continued cooperation in following the Campus Guidelines for regathering. Registration for MBC Kids programming is not required, but it is helpful to speed up the check-in process.

Take some of the hassle out of your Sunday morning. The Shuttle will run from:

9:30am until
20 minutes after service ending.

We especially encourage all who are coming off Rt. 78 to take advantage of the Dewy Meadow parking and Shuttle service in order to free up parking in the MBC lot.
