YoungLives | YoungLives is a ministry dedicated to reaching teen parents through relationship, mentoring and fun. We go where teen parents are and build relationships with them out of love and compassion and offer the hope of Jesus through our monthly gatherings and summer camping opportunities. During our monthly club we provide material assistance, share a meal, have fun together through games and activities and share the gospel through a club talk.

A Series of Topical Devotionals on Surrender
Hosted by Oliver Aridi
This Summer Oliver tackled the subject of Surrender. As we look around our world we see we truly need to learn to surrender to Jesus! Jesus desires we be surrendered to Him
Romans 12:2 states: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Street Hope Alive
Street Hope Alive | For the past 12 years, Street Hope Alive has been building trust and credibility in inner-city Paterson with youth and their families through a variety of activities, mentoring programs and community events. Our goal is to promote personal development, mental health, spiritual renewal and community restoration. The under-resourced demographic we serve is 90% African American and 10% Hispanic children ages newborn to 17 years old, living in the 4th ward and surrounding communities.
Street Hope Alive has now expanded its ministry to Guinea, West Africa, where children and their families are served with the same kind of activities and events that can lead them to Jesus.”
What we do:
For the past six summers, Street Hope Alive has sponsored and sent hundreds of kids to Inspire Sports Camps, a 6-day sleep away camp. The camp experience exposes the kids to life outside Paterson and many confirm their desire to continue growing their relationship with Jesus.
In our effort to help the children thrive spiritually and academically, we provide tuition scholarships for them to attend Dawn Treader Christian School. These scholarships also inside school supplies and uniforms. We also provide scholarships for the kids to participate in a Christian after school program during week. Throughout the year, as opportunities arise, volunteers take our kids to Saturday church service and out for day trips.
With support from ministry partners, we have an annual Christmas celebration which has recently been expanded to also include a Easter and Thanksgiving event that are held outside the Good Shepard Mission on Broadway. Every child that attends the Christmas event receives a wrapped gift. We average 800 children with their families. Event volunteers help to make this celebration a very special and memorable occasion.
Street Hope Alive runs an Art’s Therapy Mentorship Program which we began at the start of this past summer at the Arts Factory. The program has been incredible for encouraging our kids to use their painting skill and talent, which they are so excited to do. Moreover, the studio is a place where all of the kids we serve feel very safe leading to their willingness to open up. Imagine, our kids are learning to communicate their thoughts and
feelings. We are teaching them God’s word and helping them work through difficult current and past situations, so that they may experience the hopeful future you and I enjoy.
New Believers
Begin Your Journey Here | The Gospel of Jesus Christ is Good News! But first, there is some bad news. The Bible tells the whole story of humanity in four parts:
Creation
The first book in the Bible is Genesis, and it says that God created the world and it was good (Gen 1:31). There He created a man and a woman and placed them in a garden called Eden. They were to be fruitful and multiply and to partner with God in caring for this world, and the presence of the glory of God was there with them … until sin came into the world.
Fall
The tragedy of the Bible is called the Fall, that moment when mankind rebelled against God and His right to govern and rule over their lives. Since this moment, all of creation has fallen into sin. Sin is disobeying God and his commandments, rebelling against God, and falling short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). And mankind is desperate and groaning for things to go back to the way they were supposed to be and awaits its promised liberation from bondage (Romans 8:19), until the promised redeemer would come…
Redemption
In the fullness of time, God sent His son, Jesus Christ, to live the life we should have lived which was a perfect sinless life and to die the death we deserved. He died as a substitute on the cross for our sins, was buried, and then rose victoriously over the grave. He then gave his followers a commission to proclaim this Gospel (good news). The message of the Gospel is the message of God’s grace, mercy and the forgiveness of sins for all who believe.
Restoration
But this is not the end of the story… The testimony of the Bible is that God has every intention of renewing and restoring this world to a glory surpassing what it had at first. (Eph 3:20-21; Haggai 2:9) Jesus taught his disciples about the coming “renewal of all things.” (Matt 19:28). Our final destination is a renewed and restored world with resurrected bodies living with God who dwells among His people (Rev 21-22). This is why the good news is so good. We find that to be very exciting!
So what do you do now?
Our response to the Gospel is to place our faith in Christ. Are you ready to trust Him? If you have recently made a decision to begin a relationship with Jesus, how wonderful! This means two things: First, Jesus has become your savior. Second, you have become a child of God. We call this Salvation. Becoming a follower of Jesus is the most important decision you can make in your life. Know how excited we are for you!
We want to help you in any way that we can. We hope Millington Baptist Church will be a place where you can connect with God, His word, and with Christian friends. Here are some important next steps you can take:

Feeding Hands

Are you in need? We are here to help.
- The first step is to contact Jim Romaine, MBC’s Feeding Hands representative, to find out if there’s a Neighborhood Captain in your area.
- If there is a Neighborhood Captain in your area, Jim will connect you with that person so you can obtain needed supplies safely and expediently.
- If there are no nearby Neighborhood Captains, we encourage you to visit the Feeding Hands Food Pantry, located at Emmanual Church, 100 Grant Avenue in Somerville. (Please visit the Feeding Hands website to learn more about what to expect on your first visit and what to bring.)
Feeding Hands Mission
Feeding Hands exists to live out God’s commandment to care for the poor by loving and serving our neighbors in need.
We will build an organization of excellence, modeling how to develop programs such as a pantry having a profound impact on both the poor and those who serve them. Service to the poor, when done right, changes the lives of those in need, builds the discipleship walk of those who serve, and glorifies their creator. We will engage the community, especially Christians and their churches, helping them to understand how to utilize their gifts to create vibrant change both inside and outside their walls and hearts.
For more information check out their website.
Premiering September 20th on the Feeding Hands Youtube Channel.

Neighbor Connect
We are excited to participate in a new initiative from our partner organization, Feeding Hands. The goal of Neighbor Connect is to spark a “viral” program of neighbor connection that encourages folks to safely connect with their immediate neighbors and “work from home” to feed and care for their neighborhood and community.
How it works…
Collect boxes of food and connect with immediate neighbors who need a hand. Locally prepared boxes (List of Food Items) of groceries will be distributed first to:
-
Immediate neighbors in need.
-
Feeding Hands for local distribution (Click for Locations).
-
Your local community food pantry for those who are located outside the Central NJ area.
Working together, our hands will feed deep needs in our communities for connection that last well beyond the duration of this pandemic. Visit the Feeding Hands website to learn more.
