Yet, in the Scriptures, we see three institutions that God created: The Family, The Church, and the Nation—but the family is the foundation of society.

At MBC, one of our core values is building strong families. One of the ways we do this is by equipping parents and their children to navigate the difficult issues of the day. This page is for you. Baby Dedications

The next Baptism will be:
August 25

Let the little Children Come |
At MBC we believe in the importance of building strong families. A key component of this value is raising children to know and love Jesus Christ. In light of this, we encourage parents to take make a public commitment to raise their children in the Lord—this is called a “baby dedication ceremony.”

A baby dedication is a ceremony in which Christian parents make a commitment before the Lord to raise that child according to God’s Word and God’s ways.

This practice may be new to you depending on your church background. Baby dedication is NOT the same as infant baptism. We believe baptism is an individual decision a person makes when they are older and have made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ. For more information, see the BAPTISM page. By contrast, a baby dedication is a commitment by the parents, and an invitation to the larger church family, to help raise their child to follow Jesus. There are several good reasons for this practice.

“Listen, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone. And you must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.

3 reasons to Dedicate your children

First

It models the concern and love Jesus had for little children.

As a church, we are people who love babies! We want to care and invest in the littlest and most vulnerable among us. Jesus said this in Matthew 19: “Then children were brought to him that he might lay his hands on them and pray. The disciples rebuked the people, but Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”” (Matthew 19:13-14). Baby dedication reflects the love Jesus had for children.

Second

It reminds the church of its calling to be an extended family.

Scripture teaches that the church is our spiritual family and following Jesus is costly (Ephesians 3:14-19; Mark 10:29-30). Parenting is hard work and God gives us an extended spiritual family who can help carry the Load. The church should love and support families in this good work of raising the next generation.

Third

It is an opportunity to share the Gospel with unbelievers.

During a baby dedication, families will often invite relatives to watch this important ceremony. Baby dedication offers an opportunity to share the Gospel message with those who might not yet believe. When asked—why are we dedicating this child? Because we want them to believe the Gospel—Jesus died for our sins, Jesus rose from the dead, and Jesus is coming back. That is the hope for our children!

How does the process work?

If you are interested in taking this important step as a family, the process will work like this:

First, contact one of the pastors about your interest and fill out the baby dedication WORKSHEET.
Second, you then meet with one of the pastors so they can get to know your family and organize a time to have the ceremony.
Third, you will create a video of your family sharing why you want to dedicate your child. You can see an example video below.
Finally, your video will be played during a service on a Sunday morning and you will take part in a short ceremony when you recite vows before the congregation—this is a public commitment to raise your child to know Jesus!

MBC Kids

We love kids at MBC! On Sunday mornings we provide engaging programs for children in Nursery through 6th grade. This gives your kids an opportunity to discover faith in a dynamic atmosphere that’s safe and fun.

MBC Kids classes:
9am service: All Classes: Nursery, Preschool/K, Elementary 1st-4th, 56ers (5th & 6th grade)
10:45am service: Nursery, Preschool/K, and Elementary 1st-4th
*56ers can join as an assistant in the elementary class at 10:45am or join you in the worship service.

About Us

Kids | The youngest members of our church family grow in their love and understanding of Jesus, encouraged and supported by their church community. Kids from birth through grade 6 hear the gospel and grow in their relationship with Jesus as Savior and Friend. They learn, play, and create in an environment that reflects God’s love for each of them. MBC Kids partners with families and the community to create roots for the young ones that are anchored in Christ’s love for them.

Nursery

Our Nursery is located in the Main sanctuary building downstairs.

We have a wonderful, newly renovated space for our babies and toddlers (up to age 3 and potty trained). Kids enjoy engaging play time, Bible story time, and snack time. Nursery is provided at both of our service times, 9am and 10:45am.

Check-in begins at 8:45am and 10:30am in the Main building (if you have kids in the older classes, you can check them all in at either of the check-in locations: in the nursery or in the Education building’s Connection Corner).

Preschool/Kindergarten

We have a wonderful team of Preschool/Kindergarten teachers ready to show your children the love of Jesus through playtime and through an engaging Bible storytime. This class meets in the Education building, Room 212, at both services.

Check-in begins at 8:45am and 10:30am in the Education building (please use the entrance with the ramp, and you’ll walk right into the check-in area, Connection Corner). Please tell our check-in greeter if your child(ren) will be staying for both services.

Elementary (1st-4th grades)

Our elementary class is for 1^st -4^th graders. We do both a large group teaching time and small groups. This age group meets in the Education building, Rooms 203/205, at both services.

Check-in begins at 8:45am and 10:30am in the Education building (please use the entrance with the ramp, and you’ll walk right into the check in area, Connection Corner). Please tell our check-in greeter if your child(ren) will be staying for both services.

56ers (5th & 6th grades)

Our 56ers (5^th and 6^th graders) have special classes, as they are the oldest kids in the MBC Kids program. The 56ers meet at 9am only, and there are two classes: 56ers boys meet in Room 213 and 56ers girls meet in Room 211.

Check-in begins at 8:45am in the Education building (please use the entrance with the ramp, and you’ll walk right into the check in area, Connection Corner). 56ers can sit with their families in the worship service if staying for both services, which is a great opportunity for kids to learn about worshiping God.

Subscribe to a Weekly Parent Update

Children are welcome to join their parents for family worship services on December 31st.

Nursery and preschool will be available on 12/31 only.

Special update: we are launching a new electronic check-in system this fall!
Parents will be able to check in all of their kids at any of the 4 stations: nursery, sanctuary foyer, and 2 stations in Connection Corner (Education building). Kids will receive a name tag, and parents will receive a tag with matching numbers. Parents must show their tag in order to pick up their kids.

Kids Programs

Nursery
9am & 10:45am, Newborn – toddlers up to age 3. Our nursery is located in the lower level of the main church building.

Preschool
9am & 10:45am, Ages 3-4. Located in the Education building (the building to the left of the main church building, use the door with the ramp).

Elementary
9am, Kindergarten – 6th graders. Elementary school aged students’ class located in the Education building, (the building to the left of the main church building, use the door with the ramp). Children enjoy Bible stories and activities in a safe and fun atmosphere.

10:45am, Junior Church – Preschool through 4th grade. Elementary age kids attend the worship service with their parents until they are dismissed after the songs. Then they meet the teachers in the Sanctuary foyer and walk over to the Education building to enjoy an interactive Bible lesson and fun activities. Child pick-up is in the Education building.

10:45am, 56ers Pack – 5th & 6th graders, 2nd & 4th Sundays. The 56ers Pack is a special class featuring interactive games, video-based applicable Bible lessons, and…popcorn! Pick-up is in the Education building, or parents may give permission for students to leave this class on their own. On the first, third, and fifth Sundays, students may sit with their parents in the Sanctuary during service.

MBC Kids

We love kids at MBC!
On Sunday mornings we provide engaging programs for children ages preschool through 6th grade. This gives your kids an opportunity to discover faith in a dynamic atmosphere that’s safe and fun.

Interested in serving with kids? We’re praying for the following roles to be filled: assistant teacher, check-in, and nursery. Contact Rachel Rickershauser for more information.

Kids Fall 2020 Programs

Outdoor in-person program is during the 10:15am service.

Ages preschool-6th graders (see the link below for more details about preschoolers and Kindergarteners).

Kids are dismissed to the program during the sermon.

Masks are required

Pre-registration is highly recommended as there is a maximum of 15 kids.

Time: 9am
Ages: 5th/6th grade boys

Outdoor In-Person Kids Program (During 10am Service Only)
