A beautiful day to end the week. We were able to spend most of the day at Pasitos de Jesus. A girls orphanage that has become a safe haven for many girls. It truly was a blessing for us to be able to go there.
Our team painted nails, played games, spoke with the girls and had lunch with them as well. Not only did we sing some songs to them but they in return sang and dance for us as well. It was a hard day to hold back the tears.
Matthew 25:40 says, “'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me'”
Our team exemplified this so well today in their love and empathy for this orphanage. You could see the light of Christ shining through each member of our team.
Tomorrow we pack and head out, please pray for safe and on time flights for us. Continue to pray for good health for our team as we recover from a long week!
Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God” (Luke 18:16)
What a beautiful day to spend time with the kids from all over these villages. We were able to play games, color, paint nails and enjoy being with one another. It was a joy to see these children light up when they showed up to be with us. It was a difficult goodbye as they left at our time together.
We also were able to help prepare the garden for a refresh with some digging and spreading fresh soil. Not a single rock was brought up from the ground, just fresh soil ready for harvest. We are definitely not in NJ! In addition to that we cleared away lots of debris growing over there fence, a machete may have been used to clear things up!
Later in the day we were able to bring food to another village and bless them with worship, a drama and the gospel. It is beautiful to see these kids pass out food and pray for each person as they leave. It is a wonderful picture of the church being a beacon in the community bringing hope and love to all.
Pray for our team as the heat and long days are impacting us greatly! Pray for endurance as we finish the race set before us. We take off to the girls orphanage tomorrow and excited to spend time with these incredible girls!
Our team these last few days have been serving the Lord well in all areas. It has been a joy to witness this group want to further the kingdom of God in many unique ways. As the next couple of days are jam packed we took a rest and recharge day to recover from the last few days of work and to prepare us for what lies ahead.
We were able to enjoy a day on the beach and rest in God’s beautiful creation that he created with the mere words being spoken. Seeing the beauty of the creation led us to look to its creator and thank Him for what he has done.
Job 12:7-10 says. “But ask the beasts, and they will teach you; the birds of the heavens, and they will tell you; or the bushes of the earth, and they will teach you; and the fish of the sea will declare to you. Who among all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this? In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.”
Thank you Lord for the rest we were able receive today!
Be in prayer for us tomorrow as we head out early in the morning to get to the school for kids club. May God use each of us to spread his light to these kids!
For many, the language barrier of not knowing Spanish has been a challenge. Today, we were able to witness how we can break those barriers. We traveled to Nizao to help out with the sports ministry- where we were amazed to see 300 kids come out! We played baseball, basketball, and volleyball all while painting their faces, nails, and applying tattoos. Fun transcends every language barrier- we can witness with our smiles and actions. This realization has given us confidence to continue to minister this week. Truly a blessing to be able serve and have fun with all these wonderful kids.
In the morning, we went directly to the HOH school. We took on some renovation projects (the electrical project taken on by Chris Dowden and Luke Williams throughout the entire day!) to make some improvements to the school. This was followed by a delicious lunch made for us before we headed out to the sports ministry.
We all came together and put our handprints on the schools wall along the many other hands to show all the others that have come from other churches and schools to bless this area. Amazing to see the big C Church's impact here.
We can’t wait to see what barriers the Lord will break down next. Your prayers for us on this trip are being answered. Keep going before the Lord for us!
To the villages we went. Today marked our first time going into the villages about a 45 minute ride from where we are staying. Quite a perspective change from the capital to the village. The Lord opened our eyes today in how people around live on a daily basis. Hopefully what we did today was pleasing in our Lords sight!
We started the day bringing manna packs to villages that had tin over their heads as their roof and walls. We gave them food and prayed over them as we did that.
After that we painted some houses in that area to give their homes a touch up to show them we care and want them to feel as though they and their houses matter. Following that we had our first meal in the village, and wow was it tasty!
The afternoon was jam packed with heat and more work to do. Some of our group moving cinder blocks and rocks to lay a foundation for posts and a new project. Those shirts are not wet with water but sweat! Lots of water was consumed today!
While the other group brought food to another village, sang some worship songs, performed a drama and preached the word of God to an extremely poor village. Incredible to see our group come together to use their gifts to glorify the Lord by caring for his creation. We were reminded today that we are all created in the image of God.
Night ended with one more village we supplied food for and then we had dinner ourselves. A full day but one we will all remember.
Thank you for your constant prayers for our team! Excited for day 3.
If only there were pictures to show everyone what took place today. Words will have to do. Today we went to the children’s hospital to bring some hope and light in a place where many may not have either. Due to the respect and privacy for the children we do not have photos to show what we did.
We witnessed many sad stories of infants sleeping on plastic chairs, many with a ‘bone crushing disease’, the burn unit, doctors scarce to be seen and more. It was an emotional day. Many having to take a moment to gather themselves.
Our team was incredible though. They learned how to create balloon animals and hand them out to the kids and parents. Many sat on the beds of the kids and colored with them. We had a plethora of beanie babies to give to all. We prayed and engaged in conversation with as much as we could. We sang worship songs in Spanish and many sang along with us. We even had one group sing a song back to us, they truly blessed us in that.
Galatians 6:2 says to “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Our kids demonstrated that so well today in all they did. Couldn’t have been more proud of each of them.
Later in the day we had church on shoreline and stood amazed in God’s creation. Look how blue that water is! Great time to worship and reflect on how much God cares for each of us.
Be in prayer for us tomorrow as we head out for the first time this week to the villages. It will truly be a perspective changing day for us all. We covet your prayers!
God is good. After some tech shutdowns and delays in the airport we safely landed in Santo Domingo. Ready to take on the week that the Lord has already planned out for us.
Our first day on ground we were able to get out in the capital and experience the people and culture we will be ministering to throughout the week. We handed out tracks with the Romans Road and many were engaged in reading. Many of us getting our Spanish practice in on day 1!
For our first meal in the DR believe it or not we consumed some delicious pizza! Our crew was famished from a day of travel and walking all around the city. NJ has a fight now with where to get the best pizza coming soon!
Our night ended with prep for tomorrow’s day of ministry. Our first stop tomorrow will be at the children’s hospital. We prepped our teams to sing, color, make balloons and pray over the many children we will see. As our Savior displayed in Matthew 14:14, “he saw a great crowd and had compassion on them”, we aim to imitate Christ like this tomorrow.
Be in prayer as we head there to spread Jesus’ love, may lives be changed and hope brought to each child and family.
To close, 40 people on this trip is incredible. Taking over the airports, restaurants and more. Amazed God called each one on this trip and excited to see Him move through each one. May we all be expectant of the Lords work this week!
