Saturday October 17th, 8:30am – 11:30am at MBC
Overview
This regional training event, hosted in partnership with Joni and Friends, is designed to help participants grow in confidence, awareness, and practical skill as they minister to individuals and families affected by disability.
The morning will be led by Sarah Bush, Regional Coordinator with Joni and Friends. Sarah will guide attendees through helpful training that strengthens both understanding and ministry practice, equipping people to interact with greater care, confidence, and gospel-centered compassion.
The gospel-centered truth behind including the disability community in church and why we need to be intentional about making disciples of all nations, including those affected by disabilities.
In this training, we will discuss:
– WHYÂ What does God say about people affected by disability? And how did Jesus model how we should treat people affected by disability?
– WHAT does that look like for the church?
– Supporting a person affected by disability actually supports the entire family
– WHO is qualified to support people affected by disability at church? (hint: you don’t need to be an expert at anything!)
– Etiquette tips: using the appropriate language and action steps to welcoming people affected by disability into your church

I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching. For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themselves teachers to suit their own passions, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander off into myths. As for you, always be sober-minded, endure suffering, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
