There is a book in the Bible that makes everyone uncomfortable. It is four chapters long, has one of the most recognizable stories in all of Scripture — and almost everyone has misread it. Jonah is not a story about a fish. It is a story about a God who refuses to abandon the nations — and a prophet who finds that refusal deeply offensive. It ends not with resolution but with a question that hangs over every reader: ‘Should I not be concerned about Nineveh?’ Jonah is a prodigal prophet RUNNING FROM MERCY.
