Praise & Prayer Weekly Update - 8/18/2026
Prayer at MBC
It is our desire to be available to support you every day of the week, not just Sunday mornings. If you are in need of prayer or would like to share a praise, please fill out the email request below.
“I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.” ~Psalm 17:6
Praise God:
- Praise God for the successful blood drive on Friday. MBC collected 41 units, equaling up to 123 saved lives.
- Praise God for all our MBC ministry leaders and their love for serving the Lord through their ministries. Please pray for all leaders to remain rooted and abiding in Christ and for God’s empowering through each ministry, especially as we prepare to launch a new season of ministry.
- Praise God Marian Miller will be receiving vestibular therapy again, twice a week, starting next week. Please pray that this will help her be able to heal completely. Thank you for hanging in there with us in prayer this whole time. God is so good!
For our MBC Family & Friends, please pray for:
- Lois Henry‘s memorial service will be held here at Millington, Saturday, August 22nd at 10:30am. See HERE for her obituary.
- Audrey Rowe was hospitalized due to pain in her legs. Please pray for answers.
- Leslie Mercado is scheduled for this Thursday for a surgery. Please pray that healing would be very quick and that results come back well.
- Carrie Isler was in a bike accident last Wednesday and suffered a broken clavicle and two broken ribs. She is experiencing significant pain and difficulty moving. She will see an orthopedic surgeon to determine whether her clavicle is healing properly on its own or if surgery is needed. Please pray for healing, relief from pain, and that her brain tumor removal surgery scheduled for August 31 will not have to be postponed.
- Robert Meleta would like prayer for his adult sons and for continued growth and maturity and that God bring them Godly spouses in life.
- Dennis Beam’s cancer has become more aggressive after the last treatment, leaving him extremely fatigued and very little appetite. Headaches have diminished but still experiencing double vision. Please also pray he can gain strength to move on to the next treatment.
- Pray for Todd and Margaret Fontana – a pipe burst in their basement as they were preparing to come to church Sunday morning.
- Winnie Pine requests prayer for her parents. Winnie’s dad had surgery for a hernia in his groin last Friday which went very well. He has minimal pain at the incision site and feels good. Winnie’s mom has had diarrhea on and off since Friday and that can be an issue. Please pray for the entire family.
- Ellen Sterman, Amy Acker’s mom, is requesting prayers for positive outcomes to multiple health concerns she is experiencing right now.
Our Church:
- Pray for Frank Donaruma, as he prepares his sermon for this upcoming Sunday. Frank will be preaching on Psalm 121.
Our nation & those in authority.
1 Timothy 2: 1-2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
- Please pray for those affected by the recent flooding and wild fires through out our nation.
- Please pray for the those in authority in our nation.
- Continue to pray for First Choice. The U.S. Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in its favor, allowing First Choice to argue in federal court that the Attorney General’s subpoena violates its constitutional rights. While this is a significant victory, the legal battle continues as the Attorney General seeks to enforce compliance in state court. Pray that this ruling will provide lasting protection for First Choice and strengthen protections for pregnancy resource centers across the nation.
Our Extended Family & Friends:
- Pray for Carlos and Miryam Kaezer and their four children (Pedro, Isabel, Ana, and Lucas). They just moved to the area from Brazil and are adjusting to life in the U.S. They were part of a Baptist church in Brazil and came to MBC looking for a local Baptist church.
- Yvonne Lai’s mom is recovering from 2 ankle surgeries. Please pray for her recovery.
- Laura Garcell’s parents were both hospitalized last week. Nancy is now home but she needs extra home care. Jack is currently in rehab for swelling in his arms and legs due to acute arthritis.
- Amy Puskas’s dad, Joseph is home from the hospital after suffering a stroke. Please pray that he faithfully does his speech exercises and that his speech continues to improve. Please continue to pray for his salvation. Also pray for Amy’s mom, Nora, as she continues to care for him at home.
- Continued prayers for Cathey Donaruma’s mom as her health is failing. Cathey is in Atlanta with her mom who has been placed on hospice.
- Continued prayers for Aaron Dunn’s good friend Drew for comfort for him and his family. Sadly, his niece Harper, who nearly drowned a week ago, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, 07/31. Please pray for special comfort for her parents.
- Please pray for Kathy Kish whose mom, Nancy Swartz, at the age of 93 passed away and transitioned to heaven. Nancy was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church Metuchen. Kathy would appreciate prayers for comfort for her grieving family members.
- Andrew Strain praises God for his sister, Maryann, who underwent gallbladder surgery. She is doing well. Please pray for her continued recovery at home, along with overall health. She is blessed with a loving and supportive church family there to help.
- Please pray for Kristie Gall’s uncle, Allan, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Please pray specifically for the right treatment plan to be provided at his appointment at Sloan Kettering and peace about the diagnosis amongst the family.
Missionary Partner for the week:
Nathan and Becky Kendall, World Venture, Senegal
- After 60 years of labor, the Bible in the Wolof language has finally arrived in Senegal. The Kendalls participated in many celebrations of this joyous event. Click HERE for a short compilation.
- Becky is organizing the distribution of Bibles throughout Senegal.
- Nathan has been working for nine months on the Senegalese accreditation process (“apostille”) for Dakar Academy. The paperwork is now complete. Thank the Lord for a successful process.
- The church the Kendalls attend in Dakar, International Christian Fellowship, is in need of an English-speaking pastor. Nathan has been preaching this summer, but please pray for a permanent pastor.
- Becky has finished her master’s degree in public health! She was able to put her knowledge to unexpected use recently, as she aided in the medical evacuation of a very ill colleague. Pray for continued opportunities to serve.
Pray for our World:
Imprisoned Pastor Leads Prisoners to Christ
A pastor has faithfully shared the gospel while imprisoned on false charges. Pastor Sang Te was arrested by Myanmar military authorities on Sept. 16, 2021, accused of having connections with resistance groups. Christian leaders insisted that Sang Te was not involved in armed activities but was simply serving Christ and helping people in need during a time of national suffering. Sang Te received a 23-year prison sentence and has now been in prison four years. During this time, God has worked powerfully through his life. He has shared the gospel freely among the male inmates, and 60 prisoners have come to faith in Christ. Pray for Sang Te’s continued spiritual strength, endurance and joy in the Lord during his imprisonment; for comfort and provision for his family and church community; that the gospel will continue to spread among prisoners through Sang Te’s witness; and for truth, justice and mercy in Sang Te’s case.
