Latest Happenings at MBC

Millington Church family:  

Thank you so very much for your prayers, encouragement, and support, as we recently passed the 6-month mark of living in Brazil and serving with Restoration Ministries in the heart of São Paulo’s favela communities. (A favela is a densely-populated, low-income urban community in Brazil where many families and children live with limited resources and face significant economic and social challenges.)  

Having been a pastor in the U.S. for the past 30 years, Steve now spends his time here each week focused on evangelism, training disciples, making home visits, and mentoring local pastors, in addition to preaching, teaching, and shepherding in Restoration Ministries’ three different church plants. Shannon, who has a professional background as a Behavior Analyst and works closely with children with autism, helps Restoration Ministries conduct their weekly children’s Bible clubs in the favelas, while also conducting home visits and building relationships with parents of children with special needs in order to provide ongoing support and prayer.   

Prayer requests:  

– Please pray for us as we are still working hard to try to learn Brazilian Portuguese, and will be starting a new 5-week intensive language course this week. This language work is incredibly important during our first year here and for our hope to serve in Brazil for many years to come, but these classes also require us to take some time away from our other ministry responsibilities, so please pray for God’s grace and provision both for us and for the ministry while we take this course. 

– Please pray for joy and encouragement for us and for the Restoration Ministries team, as we confront significant spiritual warfare every day and often do not see immediate fruit from our investments into the lives of those living in the favelas. Please pray for spiritual breakthroughs and miracles and for God to draw people here to Himself every week.
