Navigating sexual & gender identity issues faithfully and compassionately.
It was our pleasure to host this engaging leadership training session with special guest speaker Dr. Mark Yarhouse.
We addressed topics related to the LGBT community and how we, as Christians, are to live in light of this. Our main speaker will be Dr. Mark Yarhouse, Professor of Psychology at Regent University and Director of the Institute for the Study of Sexual Identity. Dr. Yarhouse is a sought-after speaker on this topic. He brings years of research and experience to the conversation, as well as a pastoral heart for the church.
Some of the greatest challenges the church faces today are: How to navigate sexual and gender identity issues, and how do we offer wise care and counsel? While this conversation is rich with nuance, the direction taken often leads to isolation, individual crisis, family rupture, and a culture war. Many Christians are concerned with how to be both biblical, as well as compassionate towards those in the LGBT community. Parents genuinely want to know how to have these conversations with their children. Children’s and youth volunteers are seeking to be equipped when this topic arises. Do you also have questions? Mark Yarhouse equips ministers so they can faithfully navigate the topic of sexual identity in a way that is honest, compassionate, and accessible.
Mark also graced us Sunday morning with a thought provoking sermon surrounding this topic challenging us to live a life filled with compassion and hope while staying true to our faith.
