Support Ukraine
The war in Ukraine has already resulted in a flood of refugees fleeing from locations of violence and vulnerability. If you would like to help, here are three organizations for your consideration:

United World Mission gives option to help the seminary’s work with refugees, or to give to the seminary itself. United World Mission’s network of seminaries in Ukraine have opened their doors and residential facilities to those in need of temporary shelter. You can help these refugees obtain food, temporary shelter, and transportation as well as long-term needs of the Ukrainian refugees.

MBC’s World Partners, John and Stella White, serve in Kyiv, where they both teach at the Ukrainian Evangelical Theological Seminary (UETS). John and Stella are currently home in the U.S. and recently visited MBC to give an update on the situation. You can watch the interview at the beginning of the service HERE.

WorldVenture has an ongoing disciple-making presence in Ukraine and had a past presence in Russia for many years.

Hundreds of refugees are fleeing into Poland with lines on the Ukraine side of the border being two to three days long. Churches in Poland stand ready to offer clothing, food, and shelter to Ukrainians fleeing the violence. The WorldVenture team stand with them, actively working even as we speak to give practical aid to refugees from driving to the border to give them rides to offering up their homes.

Many women and children were forced to travel alone, as men under age 60 were not allowed to leave the country. They have no place to go, are living out of a suitcase, and have no idea where their next meal is coming from. Our missionaries and local churches want to help as much as possible, but funds are limited. We desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Funds from this project will be used to assist Ukrainian refugees who are relocating to Poland. The length of their stay is unknown, and their needs are varied. Our desire is to assist them as much as possible, which may include, but is not limited to, housing, household goods, clothing, job placement, and counseling.

Josiah Venture is responding to the urgent crisis in Ukraine in two ways: by supporting the work of our team and local churches on the ground inside Ukraine and by assisting Ukrainian refugees as they move into neighboring countries.
Â
Most JV Ukrainian national missionaries are currently staying in Ukraine to serve those around them. They are coordinating with churches inside Ukraine to provide desperately needed shelter, food, evacuation, medical supplies, personal care, spiritual encouragement, Bibles, and the hope-filled message of the gospel during this crisis. Some of our missionaries have even been put in charge of city-wide operations for emergency aid, shelter, and refugee care.

JV staff in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, and Hungary are assisting refugees coming across the Ukrainian border. They are prepared to provide full-scale accommodations for up to 400 refugees in and around our training centers in the coming weeks, as well as help them flow through to local churches for long-term care. Most of these refugees are women and children, many of whom had to leave their husbands in Ukraine since they are required to stay and defend the country.

The JV team is making sure they have food, clothing, personal items, supplies for small infants and children, personal counseling, Ukrainian-language Bibles, and many other practical and spiritual needs.

Josiah Venture is supporting them throughout this crisis and preparing up a long-term program for providing assistance afterward.

Our Annual Business Meeting is an important time for our church as we celebrate all that God is doing at MBC and plan for the exciting year ahead.

Most importantly, your participation is essential to this meeting’s success. According to our constitution, first we need 20% of active voting members to attend the meeting to constitute a quorum. Second, of those attending, we need a simple majority vote to both approve the annual operating budget and to elect members to the Board of Elders. Please make every effort to attend and vote.

2022
Paul Achenbach (Initial term, 1 year)
Paul is a lifelong resident of Bernards Township and has been married to his wife Esther for almost two dozen years. Blessed with five children, they have been part of the MBC family since 2009. Paul is currently active in the Men’s Class on Sunday mornings and has in the past been involved with the MBC Choir, MBC Kids, and served as an Elder from 2013 to 2019.
Hector Garcell (Initial term, 3 years)
Hector Garcell was born in Eliazbeth, NJ and accepted Christ while in college. He has been attending MBC since 1990 and his wife Laura has been attending since 1981; they have been members since 1993. Hector and Laura have two daughters, Emma, who is attending Coastal Carolina University, and Kayley, who is a senior at Watchung Regional HS and committed to Messiah University – Fall 2022. Hector has served on the Audio/Video team, Music Camp, HisKids and volunteers at various MBC events/serving opportunities. He is a sales engineer for AT&T and enjoys woodworking, photography, and camping with the MBC family.
Glen Homa (Initial term, 3 years)
Glen Homa and his wife Liz live in New Providence and have been attending MBC since 1998 and became members soon afterward. They have four children Jordan, graduate of Liberty University, Courtney, graduate of High Point University, Benjamin, a senior at Grove City College, and Jonathan, a sophomore also at Grove City college. They have all participated regularly in youth group and church ministries and events and more recently all attended Ben’s wedding to Danielle in December. Glen served as a member and chair of the finance team, participated in many small groups, has been a member of Bible Study Fellowship groups, and has served in the youth ministry in several capacities. He teaches high school and has been an active leader in Boy Scouts for their local troop in New Providence.
Doug Hulin (Second term, 3 years)
Doug Hulin began attending MBC in 2013 and became a member the following year. Since then he has served as part of the MBC worship team in a variety of roles, as well as within MBC’s Adult Education program. Doug surrendered to Christ as a teenager and is grateful for God’s continued sanctifying work in his life in the years since. He currently works in technology for NBC Universal. He and his wife Juran live in Basking Ridge. They have been married since 2009 and are the proud parents of two boys, Jackson (11 – drums) and Brandon (9 – guitar).
Rick Splinter (Initial term, 3 years)
Rick grew up in Wausau Wisconsin and attended the University of Wisconsin, graduating with a degree in Electronics and Optics. He has worked for Alcon Labs since 1992 in his field. Rick accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior in 1977. Both Rick and his wife Cathy have been attending MBC since 1992 and became members in 1993. Over the years, Rick has served in several ministries which include Men’s ministry and Choir. He has served on the Finance team since 2011, and is currently co-leading a small group with Jim Romaine, along with participating in various prayer and bible study groups. Rick and Cathy currently reside in Chatham and have 2 adult children who live in NJ. Rick and Cathy enjoy reading, hiking and traveling and most of all spending time with their 3 grandchildren.
Jan Torgrimsen (Initial term, 1 year)
Jan is recently retired after fifty years working in construction management and estimating and lives in Basking Ridge with his wife Judy. They have eight grown children and thirteen grandchildren scattered around the country who keep them quite busy. Jan became an MBC member over thirty years ago and over time has been active in several small groups, Sunday School classes and related church
activities. Jan and Judy were married at MBC eleven years ago and are currently active with the Missions Team. Jan has been to Senegal twice on short term missions trips, serves monthly at Market Street Mission, has volunteered at Feeding Hands food pantry on many occasions and participates in Bible Study Fellowship. Jan and Judy enjoy reading, bicycling, hanging out at Ocean Grove and travelling to visit family and friends.

Women’s Winter Retreat

The Lord has been so Faithful to Millington Baptist Church through the years and our Women’s Ministry is excited to invite women to a special weekend of fellowship, refreshment, and inspiration in the heart of Amish country in beautiful Lancaster, PA.

Join us as we spend the weekend with Tammy Mittuch (mom, MBC mission partner, sister & friend) journeying through the book of Daniel. Over four insightful sessions, we’ll unravel the mysteries and timeless lessons embedded in this ancient text. We’ll delve into prophetic visions, historical narratives, and profound wisdom, which we hope will be inspiring and challenging. Don’t miss this enriching experience that promises to deepen your appreciation for the spiritual treasures concealed in the pages of one of the Bible’s most intriguing books.

B. Early Bird Single Room: $425, King room, 2 nights. Includes all activities except optional “Daniel” ticket. Register before February 13. (Choose this option if you would prefer not to share a room. Same rate applies.)
C. Post Feb. 13 Make My Own Reservation: Will make my own hotel reservation at the hotel’s STANDARD RATE and pay MBC $75.00 for additional retreat cost. (Choose this option if you are making your reservation after Feb. 13.)

In addition to our speaker sessions, there is space for restorative “you” time, however that looks for you. Here are some suggestions:

There is room for 15 on each of our two MBC vans. One van will require masks, the other will be mask optional. Please indicate whether or not you’d like to travel on one of the vans. Departure time is TBD.

By registering for this retreat, we ask that you understand there is a risk of contracting COVID as in any circumstance. We will designate one of the church vans as mask-required and the other mask-optional. This is a mask-optional event.Â

Reservations are refundable if your cancellation is made prior to February 16th or if you test positive for Covid within 2 weeks of the retreat date.

About Esther: I was born and grew up a missionary kid in war-torn Ethiopia. I now live in rural New Jersey in a house surrounded by perennial gardens where you will find me digging in the dirt or basking in the glory of it all.
