Praise & Prayer Weekly Update - 9/29/2026
Prayer at MBC
It is our desire to be available to support you every day of the week, not just Sunday mornings. If you are in need of prayer or would like to share a praise, please fill out the email request below.
“I call on you, O God, for you will answer me; give ear to me and hear my prayer.” ~Psalm 17:6
Praise God:
- Praise God for the good attendance at the Bridge yesterday.
- Praise God for a good start for Awana with over 60 kids and 44 volunteers.
- Praise God for robust start to the Women’s Bible studies. With over 125 women signed up.
- Praise God to see Gary & Marie Lingren in service this last Sunday.
For our MBC Family & Friends, please pray for:
- Please pray for Marianne Candiloros as she navigates some health issues.
- Pray for our sister Julianne Lavornia who is fighting to sleep and other health issues.
- John Rickershauser requests prayer for Jennie. She has had back pain for a while now. Pray for medication to work quickly and to be healed.
- Please continue praying for Marian Miller as she’s going through vestibular therapy. Pray it’ll help to resolve the cognitive issues she’s been having. Also, pray for Bill as he cares for her. They’re very appreciative of your prayers and the improvement she has made!
- Please pray for our MBC expectant moms, Joy and Robert Searwar, due in January with their third child, and Rachel and James Rickershauser, are expecting their 4th child.
Our Church:
- Pray for our guest speakers, Dr. David Love at 9am and Dr. Jeff Denlinger at 11am. Pray as they prepare to turn our hearts towards missions.
- Missions Conference this weekend. Click HERE for more information.
Our nation & those in authority.
1 Timothy 2: 1-2 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.
- Please pray for the those in authority in our nation.
- Continue to pray for First Choice. The U.S. Supreme Court issued a unanimous decision in its favor, allowing First Choice to argue in federal court that the Attorney General’s subpoena violates its constitutional rights. While this is a significant victory, the legal battle continues as the Attorney General seeks to enforce compliance in state court. Pray that this ruling will provide lasting protection for First Choice and strengthen protections for pregnancy resource centers across the nation.
Our Extended Family & Friends:
- Tara Tompkin’s mother, Diane, was recently hospitalized for an abscess on her leg and a very high fever. Tara appreciates prayer – her mom needs physical strength.
- Please keep Mary Mcginty in your prayers for complete healing of her cancer. Also prayers for strength and endurance and pain relief as she endures these treatments.
- Please pray for Amy Huber’s stepfather, Kyle Hypes, who was admitted to the hospital after experiencing chest pain. Tests indicate possible heart damage, and he will undergo a cardiac catheterization today and may need a stent. Please pray for minimal damage, healing, and wisdom for his medical team. Thankfully, Kyle is currently pain-free and trusting in the Lord.
- Sue Turner would like prayer for her sister-in-law, Kim. She is fighting multiple myeloma and having a bone marrow transplant next Wednesday, 9/30. Please pray that her body responds well and the side effects are minimal.
- Mike Clabough met a homeless teen in Somerville, kicked out by his family. He’s sleeping at the train station at the moment. Pray for his provision and to get on his feet. He’s 18 and finishing his last year at Somerville High School.
- Karen DiProspero request prayer for their neighbor’s young grandson, Graziano. Pray that the new treatments be effective in eliminating the recurrence of kidney cancer.
- Winnie’s mom, Fran, is at home although she still has discomfort in her stomach and is on oxygen. Hospice has been helpful. Winnie is trying to get an aid to come in the morning instead of the afternoon because her father gets everything done before the aid comes in the afternoon. They are very grateful for all the prayers
Missionary Partner for the week:
Amelia Boyd – DiscipleMakers
For Amelia:
Pray for energy, that she would rely on the Lord’s strength rather than her own as she continues to discern how best to use her time and energy in her work. The fall student conference for all DiscipleMakers campuses is on October 16th and 17th, so please pray for her and the staff to prepare for that event and pray for the students to be impacted by the Lord through the teaching at the conference.
Pray for Amelia to find solid Christian community outside of work through the church she is attending so that she can continue to grow in her relationship with the Lord.
Pray for Amelia’s team – Mason-Dixon Team
- Praise the Lord for my fellow laborers for the Gospel.
- Pray for continued strength to preserve in the work God has called us to.
- Pray that we would be examples of faithful Christians to the students we minister to. Pray especially for energy during the first weeks of the semester when staff are often working longer hours as we focus on outreach to the new students.
For Gettysburg College:
• Praise the Lord for the students and student leaders that are dedicated to His mission.
• Pray that the Lord would use the staff training of our student leaders to help them use their influence on campus to reach others with the Gospel.
• Pray that the Lord would strengthen the student leaders to continue sharing the gospel despite potential backlash.
• Pray that God would soften the hearts of non-believers on campus to be open to the Gospel.
• Pray that the Lord would use our first weeks of heavy outreach to win many students not just to the fellowship but to the Kingdom of Heaven.
For Shippensburg College:
• Praise the Lord for the growth of the fellowship and leadership team.
• Pray that the Lord would continue to grow the fellowship, not for the sake of numbers but for the sake of more people knowing Jesus.
• Pray for strength and boldness for our staff and students to share the gospel 1,000 times! Pray that the Lord would bless our efforts and use them to bring many to faith in Christ!
• Pray that the Lord would use our first two weeks of heavy outreach to win many students not just to the fellowship but to the Kingdom of Heaven.
Pray for our World:
Martyr’s Widow Begins Cancer Treatment
A Christian refugee whose husband was killed by his family for converting to Christianity has been diagnosed with cancer. Nour became a widow after her Syrian husband’s father and brother attacked and murdered him upon learning he had come to faith in Christ. They also attacked Nour, but she survived and fled to Lebanon with her three young children. They lived in cemeteries for nine days until local Christians found and helped them. Nour has since learned that she has cancer and has begun treatment. “Pray for her and her children,” said a front-line worker. “Pray that she will survive this health scare and also that she and her children will receive the comfort and support they need to heal emotionally as well.”
