First Choice Women’s Resource Centers | First Choice (www.1stchoice.org) serves women who are experiencing, or are at risk for, an unplanned pregnancy. This is a challenging ministry with beautiful rewards. Volunteers work together in the service of women who are in the midst of a profound crisis – women who often need nothing more than someone to talk to. There is an ongoing need for volunteers in a wide range of areas including: help-line volunteers, medical staff, office volunteers, parenting mentors, peer counselors, prayer partners, StraightTalk speakers (abstinence program), and male volunteers to counsel the boyfriends and husbands of clients.
Since its inception in 1985, First Choice Women’s Resource Centers (formerly Friendship Pregnancy Centers) has counseled more than 18,000 women in unplanned pregnancies and reached over 52,000 high school students through Straight Talk, our interactive abstinence presentation. Clients are served through five strategic locations in Morristown, Montclair, Newark, Jersey City, and Plainfield, NJ and receive accurate information, select medical services, and support to help them make healthy decisions.
Believing human life to be sacred, First Choice Women’s Resource Centers serves adults and teens experiencing, or at-risk for an unplanned pregnancy. To achieve this mission we:
- Present the love, grace and truth of Jesus Christ
- Provide compassionate hope and help
- Promote sexual abstinence as a positive lifestyle for singles
- Present opportunities for healing and restoration to those hurt by their lifestyle choice
