Sunday Morning Seminars & Classes

Adult Education | Our education program provides a rich variety of learning opportunities on Sunday mornings to complement the worship experience. Participants explore in depth various books of the Bible or a topic of current and shared interest. Old and young, new and seasoned believers, we never stop learning. All are welcome to take this journey even if you are someone with questions about the faith. Each class provides a combination of leader-led presentation and class discussion that allows us to learn from each other as we study God’s word together.  As a result, we grow in our understanding of our Lord and the greater story He’s calling us into.

Classes are held at 9am & 10:45am on Sunday mornings.

The following are our Adult Education course offerings for Fall-Winter 2018. Learning is built on a combination of formal instruction and personal relationships that develop as the result of the classes. Review the list, and decide how to best take advantage of what these classes have to offer.

9:00am Courses:

Ed Williams

Room 201, YFMB – Old Testament Survey

While names, dates and places matter – our primary focus will be on how the the God of the universe uniquely reveals Himself through the “Older Testament”. We will see how and why the Creator called His people Israel, and established His covenant with them. We will learn from both their responses to God, and how He continued to deal with them, all the while preparing for the coming of Messiah, His son, our great Redeemer

A series of six classes over a two-year period. This is for both the new believer with some basic content and also serves as a refresher for a seasoned believer. The course includes a rich mix of formal presentation and discussion, while encouraging participants to openly engage with questions, experiences and personal perspectives.

YFMB Great Room – Passing the Torch, Leaving a Legacy – John

The women’s class is a family that cares for one another by sharing our praises and concerns. Many have been in the class for years. We have studied most of the books of the Bible including Revelation. Our theme for this session is inspired by the idea that Jesus is the Light of the World and we are called to be His light in the darkness. This class values leaving a legacy and passing the torch to the next generation of women.

Bruce Hyldahl

Room 204, YFMB – 1 Peter

Studying the Bible fulfills our need; Sharing the Good News our goal, yes indeed. Jesus obeyed the Father, following His lead. It’s all about obedience, make sure you take heed! For this fall, we’ll be continuing in I Peter, starting with Chapter 2.  Come join us!

John Gero

Room 204, YFMBKnowing Jesus

As Christians we are commanded to live as Jesus Christ lived. But how can we model ourselves after Him unless we truly know Him? This class will help you get to know our Lord by spending time in the four Gospels, the Old Testament prophecies, and the apostolic teachings about Jesus.

10:45am Courses:

Doug Hulin & James Rickershauser

Room 202, YFMB Hebrews

The original readers of Hebrews were living in a time of political uncertainty and religious persecution. They were tempted to turn away from faith in Christ’s work and back to the safety of their former ways. It’s easy for us to fall prey to these same fears and temptations today.  Thankfully the letter to the early Hebrew Christians is still relevant, and we’re excited for this opportunity to learn from such a rich portion of the Bible together. Our vision is for this class to be a source of practical encouragement and spiritual growth as we dive deep into God’s word.  We’ll be guided in our discussions week to week by Warren Wiersbe’s Hebrews commentary Be Confident, along with other outside resources. We hope you will commit to joining us this fall!

Bruce Corke

Room 201, YFMB Befriend

Do you fear authentic friendship [relationships]? Do your suspicions of others or insecurities about yourself create barriers between you and close friendships? This class will teach us principles for befriending those around us with the love of Jesus.  Join us for a great time of learning, fellowship and prayer!”

YFMB Great Room, stage side – Becoming a Contagious Christian
“God wants us to become contagious Christians – His agents, who will first catch His love and then urgently and infectiously offer it to all who are willing to consider it. This is His primary plan, the one Jesus modeled so powerfully, to spread God’s grace and truth person to person until there’s an epidemic of changed lives around the world.” We will be studying the book Becoming a Contagious Christian by Bill Hybels and Mark Mittelberg along with a related video to explore how we should view personal evangelism, help you to develop your own story, and learn some useful techniques for sharing the Gospel with your friends and acquaintances.
