Waiting for Jesus

Advent is the season in the church calendar which spans the four Sundays leading up to Christmas. It is a time to prepare our hearts and reflect on the meaning of the coming of Christ. One way to celebrate is with an advent wreath, a circle of candles which are progressively lit over the next 4 weeks. The outer four candles represent the four Sundays of the Advent season, representing Hope (1), Peace (2), Joy (3), and Love (4). The center candle is the Christ candle, who is the light of the world. As they are lit week by week, the day of His coming draws nearer and nearer.

Advent is a season of waiting. The saints of the Old Testament also had to wait. They eagerly waited for the coming of a Messiah – a Savior. The Messiah was their hope for salvation and freedom. All their hope was in Him. In this series “Waiting for Jesus” we will explore what it means for us to wait well and what it means in our fast-paced busy world to find the hope, peace, joy and love we are waiting for in Christ.
